Dear SVILC Friends and Community,
I pray this message finds you well and staying safe. As we enter the third month of Sheltering In Place to reduce the spread of COVID-19, we, at SVILC, realize this is a very difficult time for many of you and many in our community and across the country. We need to hold each other up in the hope that doing so will help us all prevail over this terrible virus and diminish the stress and pain it is causing our world and collective community.
All of us at SVILC wish to help each of you in whatever way we can to ease the difficulties, whether it’s offering you an opportunity to visit and share a virtual cup of coffee with others each week, help you find the resources and information you need, provide you with a bag of groceries, or help you with the support and resources to stay in your home. Please do not hesitate to call us or email us! We are here for you, whether we are serving you in person in our office or remotely from our homes. Phone: 408-894-9041 or Email: info@svilc.org.
The Santa Clara Public Health Department has determined that one more month of Sheltering-In-Place is essential for all residents in order to lessen the spread of the Coronavirus/COVID-19. This means we are all asked to stay in our homes as much as possible, and leave only for necessary appointments, like doctor and pharmacy visits, ATM banking, and grocery shopping. You may also go outside to take a walk or exercise as needed for your physical and emotional well-being — just not in groups. On May 4th, restrictions were lifted for construction, yard work/gardening services and for limited group childcare. Beginning later this week, some additional businesses, like clothing stores, book stores, hardware stores and the like, will also be allowed to re-open for curbside pick-up for pre-ordered items.
On Monday, June 4, 2020, it is our intention to re-open SVILC’s main and Gilroy offices for individual appointments. All visitors and staff will be required to wear a face mask in the office. If you do not have a mask or kerchief, one will be provided to you free of charge. Our classes and workshops will continue online via Zoom and small-sized in-person classes of no more than 5 people will resume in July, unless the Public Health Department recommends otherwise. Workshop info is posted on our website: SVILC Workshops.
In the meantime, please continue to contact us at info@svilc.org or 408-894-9041 for your questions and service needs during business hours: Mondays through Fridays, 9 AM to 12 Noon and 1 PM to 5 PM. You may leave a message for one of our service providers or in General Delivery and someone will return your call as quickly as possible. You may also email SVILC directly if you are currently working with someone in particular.
We wish you and your loved ones good health and safety
