As Bay Area temperatures begin to heat up, SVILC would like to advise our consumers to be prepared. Take steps to remain cool, hydrated, and be prepared.
- Drink plenty of water
- Limit or avoid physical activity outdoor during midday when it is likely to be the hottest portion of the day
- Dress yourself in lightweight, loose-fitting clothing and consider a hat or umbrella to protect your head
- Stay in air-conditioning as much as possible
If you do not have access to air-conditioning, counties may open cooling centers during extreme heat events. For more information about efforts in Santa Clara County to keep residents cool, please visit the County’s “Hot Weather Safety” web page that lists the times and locations of cooling centers.
If you are anyone around you is having a life-threatening reaction to the heat, please call 911.
