Personal Care Attendant Services

Whether your PCA is through In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) or out-of-pocket, it is essential that you understand the process of hiring, managing, and, if necessary, firing your PCA. For many people with disabilities, being in the “employer” role and having a PCA as an “employee” is an entirely foreign concept.

Our PCA Specialist provides a monthly workshop to help develop your skills and get comfortable in your new role as an Employer. The workshop also covers where to find a PCA, establishing expectations and goals, setting personal limits and boundaries, terminating your PCA if necessary, how to apply for IHSS services, and provide information on county and private pay PCA agencies.

Additionally, SVILC maintains a listing of PCAs that work through IHSS or out of pocket. Contact our PCA Specialist, Tiffany at tiffanyd@svilc.org to complete a care plan intake to receive a list of referrals that fit your needs.

QuickMatch

SVILC’s Personal Care Attendant Registry uses the QuickMatch database, an online tool that curates a list of PCA referrals by skills, training, and availability. Clients are provided training upon receiving authorization by the PCA Specialist on how to navigate the online registry. If a client does not internet access or limited knowledge of technology, the PCA specialist uses QuickMatch to curate a list of applicable referrals over the phone, e-mail or in-person. Prior to accessing a list of referrals, clients are asked to complete the PCA Service Intake to better understand the kind of in-home care they are needing. Contact our specialist to begin your search. Please visit SVILC’s QuickMatch database at Quickmatch.org/svilc.
